Cooperation

Producer Rights Denmark (PRD) works closely with many Danish and foreign rights organisations and other relevant partners.

PRD is a member of the four Copydan organisations:

PRD licenses TV and film rights through Copydan on behalf of producers and distributors. PRD receives producers and distributors' share of rights income from Copydan, and PRD is responsible for ensuring correct individual distribution as well as use in general.

Danish rights organisations and other relevant partners

IFPI/MPO and PRD has a cooporation and distribution agreement. IFPI/MPO handles the individual distribution and payment of these rights revenues to IFPI/MPO’s rightsholders. IFPI was co-founder of the former CAB and Filmkopi (now PRD).

FDV is the Danish video association's who cooperates with PRD in relevant areas. FDV was co-founder of the former Filmkopi (now PRD).

Koda is the composers rights organisation in Denmark. Koda is a collective rights organisation who represents composers and music publishers. Koda also cooperates with Copydan in some areas.

The Danish Ministry of Culture is a primary player when it comes to the regulation of media and cultural policy in Denmark as well as to legislation in the area.

The Danish Producers Association is a trade and employers’ organisation for Danish producers of TV and film productions as well as commercials and video games. Among other things, the Danish Producers’ Association advises its members on contracts and rights issues. The association is a co-founder of Filmkopi (now PRD).


Foreign rights organisations and other relevant partners

AGICOA, MPA and GWFF is represented in the board of PRD.

  • AGICOA (Association of International Collective Management of Audiovisual Works) is an international non-profit organisation that manages cable retransmission rights. PRD (former CAB) and AGICOA have entered into a reciprocal agreement whereby AGICOA represents Danish TV and film producers abroad, while PRD represents AGICOA’s producers in Denmark.
  • GWFF (Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten mbH) is a management organisation that manages and administers the rights of German TV and film producers. PRD (former CAB) and GWFF have entered into a reciprocal agreement whereby GWFF represents Danish TV and film producers in Germany, while PRD represents GWFF’s producers in Denmark.
  • MPA (Motion Picture Association) is an American members’ organisation founded in 1922. The organisation has acted as a voice and advocate for the film and TV industry worldwide. MPA works to protect filmmakers’ creative and artistic freedom. PRD (former CAB) pays revenues to American producers via AGICOA. In areas such as Digital services (former StartOver), which are not managed by AGICOA, PRD pays revenues direct to American producers.
